The Women's Organization for National Prohibition Reform (WONPR) was founded in 1929 by Pauline Morton Sabin. She established the Women's Organisation for National Prohibition witch was also called Women's Legion for True Temperance. This organisation was a volunteer organization in which only a little people where actually paid. One goal of the Women's Organization for National Prohibition Reform was to expose the hypocrisy of politicians who publicly supported Prohibition but privately drank.
Alcohol was taking to much place in many families, and during
WW1, groups like the Woman's Christian Temperance Union, and the United Farm Women of Alberta formed to
ban alcohol. Even with all the people trying to avoid the sell of alcohol many people still found a way to get past the law.
Women began speaking about temperance because they believed it would control alcohol, and improve conditions for women and children.
